why do 20 and 30 year olds still look like teenagers today?

i noticed in the 50's people looked 30 at 12. and now they still look 17 at 30.

it can't be lifestyle because young people still drink, sunbath, and eat fast food.

maybe it was all the cigarette smoking back then?

Very many (though not all - thankfully) twenty to thirty year olds these days don't know about responsibility. They still behave like kids, live at home with parents and still have their washing and ironing done. They don't help around the home or ever tidy up a garden. Many contribute nothing to their lifestyle but have all things paid for by besotted parents.

They are good at one thing - that is bringing new life into the world - but they don't accept responsibility for that either and grandparents end up doing all the donkey work for yet another generation.

It was being responsible from about our mid teens which began to age us. Without that responsibility it must be easy to remain young. They will not see the error of their ways until our generation are dead and gone. When no-one is there to sort out their problems they will have no choice but to act responsibly. They'll either cope or 'curl up and die'

I don't agree with you. It is relatively easy to tell a 20 something from a teenager for me, and saying a 30 year old looks like a teenager isn't something I've run across. However, I've noticed that a lot of older women (older being a relative term, but I'm talking women in their 40s and 50s) look a lot younger these days. I do think you have something right with your focus on healthier living, though. Not so many people smoke nowadays compared to when I was a kid. I started smoking at 18 and it's showed in my face ever since. I've always been mistaken for being much older than I actually am, starting at about 35 or so. The kids who are tanning and drinking will eventually pay for these activities with their looks and their health.

No they don't. As a thirty something I've been mistaken as a high school freshmen by my daughters principle. The reason? Possibly because I was dressed rather unprofessionally in some jeans and a hoodie and my height may have been another factor. I most certainly do not look like a teenager if you look at the obvious. But, a lot of people do not do this for some reason. It is more likely you've fallen into the same trap.

The age group to whom you refer still look like kids because they have been treated like kids and allowed to behave like kids for far too long.

When we were young we were given responsibilities to help keep the family ticking over nicely. One had to chop wood for the fire another do the ironing, another brush the stair carpet etc. etc. This made us realise that life does not just revolve around us - we all play a part in the grand scheme of things. We had appropriate clothing for certain activities/functions and knew our place when with others. Manners and dress codes were very important.

Today's young adults were given a huge amount of freedom and did only what they 'wanted' to do rather than what they 'were told' to do. They dress as they do 'because they can'. They don't care that they won't be the successful applicant for a job because of how they look because they are happy living on money which comes from one social fund or another - no effort needed on their part.

They are bringing up their own children the same way and by the time our generation are all dead there will be very few people around who actually know how to bring order back from chaos.

How a person presents themself in public shows a lot about their attitude to life itself and to other people with whom they must share the planet.

Everything now is about ME, ME, ME.

They look like kids because they behave like kids. They accept no responsibility. That's our fault for helping them out too much and not allowing them to learn from errors made. Those who should be able to give advice to their own kids are still running to mum and dad for advice.

Some things are not learnt until we are taught how to do it OR until desperation sets in because something or other absolutely HAS to be done - and quickly. We then get our brain in gear and work it out. We were encouraged to solve problems ourselves when we were only school kids but many adults now don't know where to start. This makes them look like children. Their haircut, mode of dress, games they play etc. all emphasise the fact that they do not look grown up.

I do not know about that, maybe because of the formula they received when they were a infant or yongster

there is a lot of elderly people in their 50, s which do not look like they are in their 50 ro 60 s.

😀 😁

Most likely genetics and environment.

I've noticed that people wounding have kids a/o don't use drugs/alcohol can look up to ten years younger than their actual age.

Both my uncle's are 59, one looks mid 50s, the other looks barely 40.

Aging is different for each individual

this is utter rubbish!!! i am 42 and still get treated like a child even mistaken for my childs sister!!! i have had tough responsibility from the age of 15, sometimes it is annoying to be always treated as a child, but i thank my genes.?. My mother is 70 but still hasn't got grey hair and has just started wrinkles. i have contemplated wearing glasses and making myself look older with flowery dresses etc but just cant do it.

Part of that is in the brain of the observer. When I was 12, I really and truly thought my dad was an old man -- he was a vigorous 44 years old. Now That I'm 76, people in their early forties look like kids to me.

I have also noticed that to - when I was growing up work was harder - people walked more - most young men had to serve in the military - I can't get over the amount of over weight folks we have today.

Perspective is everything. Remember when we were 20 and 40 year olds looked ancient? Now we look at our kids who have kids and we still think of them as kids.

I dont know but i really hate the fact all these 15 year olds look older han me and I am 22!

I think that the age group you mention just don't want to grow up. Once they admit they are aging they will have to accept responsibility for their actions - many of which won't have been all that helpful to society generally.

I think you need glasses dear. I haven't seen any 30 year-olds who look around 17!

I would love to know this answer. I am 27 and still get asked what high school I go to. As far as "they have no responsibilities" that sounds more like an angry rant then an answer. I've been working since I was 14, had my first apartment while finishing high school, and helped my family with their financial troubles. Many of people I know also have this looking young issue and are doing more with their lives then most while raising kids at the same time. Not that I don't like keeping my youthful look, but honestly it makes things like getting a loan for a house very hard. People don't take a 18 year old seriously, so looking 18 when your almost 30 has it's downfalls.

People got married and had kids earlier. Sleep deprivation ages people!

No more hard work such as farming. Healthy foods. No more walking, they jump into cars.

Because it is in the genes. They have good genes from their ancestors..

It doesn't matter if your lifestyle is like.
