Either family members, friends, or acquaintances? I remember a guy being called 'Sodie Pop.' I suppose you know, he drank soda pops like they were going out of style.

A girl in my junior high school was called Cookie. This was in the 50's. Even then I thought that was very degrading.

Obviously, I have a nickname - CurlyQ - it was also my CB handle in the 70's. Until a few years ago, I wore my hair in a natural (afro) for 30+ years. Now it's straight as a board - I guess I need to change my handle on here!

A little chubby boy in my neighborhood was caled "Punker " I never knew how he got the name though. I guess i was young enough that I didn't really care. I was called "Kitty Kat " and I use to get so angry over it. I was a rebel back then and I usually put a stop to it when I'd catch the person. HA HA Now, with age i've mellowed and I don't mind it at all. But, no one ever calls me that anymore

Not a nickname but one of the boys in my grammer schools

real name was Valentine Schooly. Boy did he have a hard time with that one. Especially around Valentine's Day. Last name was up for razzing too. He was a nerd on top of that and also had a wetting problem. (he was all the time wetting his pants) That guy was a mess.

I grew up in a neighborhood that almost all the guys had a nick name. Beans, Bear, Boo Boo, Hammer Nose, I could go on and on but the funniest is Cheese Feet. We still call him this to this day.

We had a guy at my work called Malcolm, he had a stainless plate in his head due to a motorcycle accident I found out later, they nicknamed him "Malfunction" on account he would just stop and "freeze" for a minute or two then continue what he'd been doing without realising it. Strange Hey?

The little girl next door had the strangest nickname, I forget

what her given name was, because, everyone called her,

"Peedie". I never asked where the name came from. Now that

it's come back to me, I wish I'd asked. Her brother didn't even

have a nick name. It's strange he didn't, I think, since his

sister did.

Yes. My brother had a friend they called Dumb Beetle. After he tried to place a lighted cherry bomb in a soda bottle, I knew how he got the name. I also had a friend in grade school name Koolaid. Guess he liked the stuff. lol

The hardware shop in the village in North Wales where I lived was run by a chap named George.

There were many times when someone attemped to buy something in his shop when he'd say "sorry, it's on order".

Forever and a day he became "George On Order".

My cousin Norma Jean (her real name) has been called Pippy and Pip since she was a toddler. The reason is because she used to look just like Pippy Long stalking (can't spell). Furthermore, she uses it just like a real name when she is asked her name.

Two guys I ran with when I was a kid: TOOT and JUNE BUG. In the Navy one guy LOVED root beer. Since the soda dispenser machine was available 24/7 on the air craft carrier we were on (USS Nimitz CVN-68), we always had 3 pitchers of soda in our office (root beer, Coke and a 3rd). This guy's nick name was ROOT BEER (his real name was RUBIO). Our acting Leading Petty Officer for our division on the same ship was named ABELIDO, but his nick name was ABBA DOO DOO. On that ship my nick name (besides Andy) was Pappa Smurf (someone got my foul weather jacket and stenciled it on there). The repair person who worked on the pier forklifts only knew me as Pappa Smurf. She had to get in touch with me one day and I wasn't on the pier. She went to the mid-ship quartedeck and had them page "SK1 PAPPA SMURF, LAY TO THE PIER."

The military can give funny nick names at times. I was stationed with 5 different Mullins and each one was called MOON (after the character in the old funny papers). Then there was Stoney Burke (after the old time cowboy), Digger O'dell (after the undertaker in the Life of Riley), Hoot Gibson (after another old time cowboy). One of the female sailors I was stationed with was nick named Spike (never knew why). Then there was one of the Bos'n Mate senior petty officers, Momma Boats.

When I was in Antarctica, the guy that ran the main warehouse was called Big John (the phone would ring and he would answer, "Big John's Warehouse, Big John speaking.") One of the other store keepers answered one day, "GSK warehouse" and the caller said, "Oh, I got the wrong number," and hung up!

One of the young ladies who worked for me stood about 4'11"...her nick name? STRETCH!

My father is from Boston so of course people called him "Beans". I remember saying "So long, Beans" when I was about four years old. He was leaving for work and my mother heard me. I was told never to call him that again. And I never did. (Until now.)

The only funny nickname that I can remember is that of a neighbor girl, who was called "Buttons." I never found out why she was called that, but when I stood on my back porch & called for her, it was difficult to call her name. ( "Butttttt ons" is how I called her)

One of my aunts called me "Little Bug" for so many years. She said it was because I was so little for my age & moved soooo quickly.

"baby fists" is what we call one of my cousins, and it has nothing to do with his fists at all.. but kind of a long story to explain. I was always called "special sauce." Which may or may not be a good thing, I haven't quite decided yet.

" Swat" was a good friend when I was a kid. One kid was constantly trying to pin nick-names on everyone but they seldom lasted. "Dumb Butt" was always a favorite but it never stuck to any one. There were many, many more that we were always greatful never stuck to any of us.
