I asked that question last week, but i think I will wait and see what others thinks of it first, I read on here that it wasn't that good, so I might wait until it comes out on DVD..but of course I love Johnny Depp too!!..=)

The original Dark Shadows on TV was very serious. Johnny Depp's movie is VERY funny, does not follow the TV version at all.

If Jonathan Frid knew of Johnny Depp's movie, I'm sure he was sadden at it made into a comedy.

There have been other Dark Shadows made into either movies or TV series. You can find them at Netflix. Type in Dark Shadows and you will get a list of two or three.

It does look like it will be a funny movie. If Depp is as good as he was in "Edward Scissorhands", it should be. I won't pay $13 at a theater, but I will add it to my Netflix queue.

I've seen the trailers a couple of times, and I can't wait to see it ! I love Johnny Depp, and it sounds like a good macabre comedy.

Just looked it up, and was sad to see that Jonathon Frid who played the role originally, and who has a cameo role in the new movie, just died 10 days ago.

Jonathan Frid seemed old to me when he was on TV. I loved Dark Shadows. I was only in grade school at the time or Jr. High and I used to race off the school bus to watch it. I loved it!

I don't think I will see the movie though. I'm shocked they actually made a movie out of it.

no... I was disappointed that Tim Burton directed.. A little tired of the scissorhands look and this has nothing to do with the original . So no won't be seeing that.

Yes!! Aside from the fact that I never miss a Johnny Depp movie...especially when he pairs up with Tim Burton, it looks hilarious! "Reveal yourself, tiny songstress"~!!!

I posted a question about Jonathan Frid's death on the day it was announced. But at that time, I was being attacked by trolls and/or "the Yahoo Community" (there seems to be very very little difference), which made me so disgusted with this site that I didn't even look at the responses I received. I apologize to all who took the time to answer me.

True "Dark Shadows" fans are disgusted by the camped-up Depp version of the show.

I have simply NEVER seen a remake of ANYTHING that did not make me sad for the sake of the original.

And the shamelessness of the people who do these remakes is mind-boggling. It is really the Hollywood equivalent of Bernie Madoff.

If the "boomers" live long enough, I actually believe we will see remakes of "My Little Margie," "Pete and Gladys," "Petticoat Junction," "Beat the Clock," "Captain Kangeroo," "Captain Kangeroo II," "Captain Kangeroo III," "Bunny Rabbit: The Prequel," and "Mister Moose, The Final Frontier,"

P.S.--I think Frid may have timed his death for the sake of the movie. Strange, but not unheard of.

This question was asked a couple weeks ago and at the time I said that I absolutely would not see it because I never like re-makes. But I've been hearing so much about it - that it is a comedy and Johnny Depp is Barnabas, I'm re-thinking this decision. It may just turn out to be very good.

Frid has a cameo part in the movie. I have been waiting patiently for this movie, especially with Depp playing Barnabas. When I saw the previews on tv, I was disgusted and very disappointed. They have made it a comedy. No, I will not see it at the theater, or when it comes on tv. I was hoping for the same ambiance of the old Dark Shadow movies back in the 70s.

I like Johnny Depp and have seen about everything he has been in. Yes I would like to see the movie as have I several others in the past. We most likely will not though. Cost.

This is a classic team-up of director Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. So methinks this is worth the price of your movie ticket :)

I wanted to see it when I first heard about it but after seeing the ads I am not sure. I most likely will order it on Direct TV but will not go to the theatre.

I've seen a few pictures of promotion but never saw the TV show, don't break my neck to see Johnny Depp and don't go to many movies. I'll bet it makes a lot of money.

No, my wife and I are slowly making our way through the original series in chronological order. Maybe one day we'll borrow this Tim Burton movie from the public library.

I don't think so. It sounds like the Adams family without the humor. I do like vampire stuff. I admit freely to reading all of Christine Feehans Dark series. i like adventuring in another world, like the fictional paranormal. But this sounds too dark for me. I have to have happy endings.

5 bucks at the matinee I may go see it. The drive cost more than the movie.

Yes! I will probably order it on TV...I saw the preview where the girl asks him if he is stoned lol. Looks like a lot of fun.

I didn't watch the show, and I'm not putting out good money to see a rehash of a bad TV show.

More than likely not. Too often remakes are not nearly as good as one remembers the originals.
