Patriotic celebration at a residental senior home?

I work for a Youth Council, high school students who do community service. Once a month we visit a residential senior home and this month's theme is "Patriotic celebration." We're planning to do a sing along, but I'd like to think of something additional or all together different to do. We've done too many sing alongs. It has to be simple since we dont have a lot of resources. ANy ideas would be appreciated.

You could always make a nice slideshow or something.

Change the patriotic celebration so that it's held on the 4th of July, when you can all celebrate independence day. Pardon me if I have the day wrong, I'm Canadian.



But that day you could take them to see fireworks.



Otherwise, you could ask the senior's home for the information to contact the senior's family, and then ask the family what each senior has done that they feel is very patriotic. Then ask them all to join you in saying thanks to each senior for their patriotic contribution.



This would be family time, and work their minds and hearts at the same time!

Have your students do a bit of research and then sit in two rockers or chairs and discuss what used to be done at Patriotic celebrations...and complain to each other about today's youngsters' attitudes. Have several pairs, each specializing on various celebrations.

If there is enough room, invite your local Sea Cadets or ROTC to come out and give a marching demo. It can be done on a patio or lawn, or a large meeting room. I have seen it done with as few as 4 participants. They do it at parades and such.

we are going to be living house. it is too frightening available. weapons are continually going off. not in basic terms that, yet little Maya our Yorkie Pooh gets extremely freaked out. She starts panting and walking in circles. undesirable difficulty. :( Edit: I forgot to choose you a satisfied Fourth of July besides....and to the Canadians available, have a great Canada Day too. ;)
