My husband uses a company car for his work, and we have his 2000 vehicle. He purchased it used in 02. It won't be long before we have to buy a vehicle. I'm on a wing and a prayer now with this 2000 model. I think with almost 200,000 miles on it, we are due. I just hate to think about another payment right now. It is nice not having one, not to mention the license and taxes on a newer one. We would purchase one that is at least 1-2 yrs old when we do. If you can find private individuals that buy new cars every couple of years, and will sell rather than a trade in, you can find some really nice cars, especially when you know they have been taken care of really well.

None. The only brand new vehicle I ever picked out and bought was a 1988 Chevy custom Good Times minivan. The reason - my husband bought a new 1987 Chevy PU while I drove the 1962 Plymouth. The air conditioner quit working on the Plymouth, and hubby said it wasn't worth fixing. I said, "Okay. I'll drive your air conditioned truck and YOU drive the Plymouth." It gets HOT here in Texas in July !

That lasted about a week when he told me he wanted his truck back. Soooo, I hopped into the hot Plymouth and headed for the Chevrolet dealership. Spotted my little van, took it for a test drive and the rest is history. Best vehicle I've ever had and still going strong after all these years. We've grown older and better together.

I have purchased 3 new cars, and 1 new truck in the last 12 years. The car I am driving now will probably be the last new one, unless I get some really great dealer incentives.

Hi Meerkat, the only brand new car we purchased was over twenty years ago when we bought a duty free car whilst serving in the forces abroad.

Ever since then it's been a fairly decent used car with an average of four years running and of course trade -in's.

I have never bought a brand new car.

I buy them 1-3 years old, and pay with cash (no financing).

Right now I drive a Subaru.

The minute you drive a brand new car out of the lot, you lose thousands of dollars in instant depreciation. Instead of spending it on a new car, I buy a used car and I take a really nice vacation.

I have only had one brand new car my entire life. My others were "gently used" such as demo's or program cars with low mileage. The warranty is still good and the quirks have already been found and fixed. The savings are astounding. I just bought a 2010 Impala with 14,000 miles on it and I saved thousands of dollars.

None. I buy 1 or 2-year-old cars and let someone else suffer the massive depreciation that occurs the first two years. That saves a lot on sales tax also. My last new car was in 1959.

Probably 4 I think. We buy a new car every 3 years so it doesn't need an MOT or things start to go wrong with it.

We have actually ordered a new car recently and are expecting it to arrive next week.
