I read about this a few years ago. There was also a television program which detailed this. At one point, she wanted to join the National Inventors Council, but was told that her star status would be better served in selling war bonds. According to one article, she raised $7,000,000 at one of these rallies.
I remember going to Victory Bond rallies during the war. It would have been wonderful if she had attended one of these. We were fans of her movies. She was so beautiful.
