Once while at a garage sale by a lady who was moving, I noticed clusters of bulbs in her flower bed and asked her what they were and she said lilies, you can have them if you want them.

At another sale there was a little grey kitten mewing for food; they said they didn't want it around so I asked if I could take it home . Then Beatrice became one of our favorite cats.

I bought 4 parakeets in a large cage on a stand for $45, they have brought me joy every day since I go them 5 years ago. They started talking less than a week after I brought them home and eventually asked me many questions about what I was doing around the house(What are you doing? What are you cooking? What do we have? What are you looking for? Where have you been?), and of course I answer them.

Such a cute story. I love kitty's and also lilies. What a great lasting find.

I have way too many treasures to list, that I have found at yard sales.

Picture frames were the first thing I looked for. Believe it or not - we have over 170 pictures and quotes in frames on our walls throughout our home.

Most of the frames were from yard sales at the price of 5 cents and never more than 50 cents.

I'm home bound now but there was a time when I could not pass up a yard sale. Oh how I miss doing that.

The last garage sale I went to, the woman was moving. And she had

a full bedroom full of craft materials she was selling. She was expect-

ing her first baby, and she didn't feel she'd ever have time to make

crafts again. So she was clearing it all out, rather than hauliing it to

her new home. So I bought many things that were very cheap. And

I used those things to make individual Christmas stockings to give

for Christmas that I decorated. I also got some small bird houses

that looked cute when painted, on one of my bedroom walls, that

I added to a collection I had begun. She also had several pair of

nice earrings she'd made, and I bought a couple pairs of them. I

thought it was my lucky day to find so many inexpensive and

useful things I could use.

old rocking chair for $5. this is properly worth over $1000. I have a set of pretend rings from the 1930-50s that i'm positive is properly worth something yet i have not had them looked at.

A set of $2400.00 Bose speakers for $40.00. I asked Bose what they were worth and they said $2400.00 still, at that time. Problem is, I've never been able to use them because I can't afford a stereo with enough power to power them. I hooked them up to my stereo and could barely hear them with the volume turned all the way up. They sure look good sitting there though.

A cooler which was like new, A large Foreman grill, and a real Mexican Sombrero.

I picked up a kitten when I was helping cook at a local club. He was obviously starving. I've had him about 6 years now.

Ten Beatles (vinyl) albums in perfect condition for $1 each. I felt guilty paying so little and mentioned to the guy that he could probably get more for them somewhere, but he said he didn't care, just take them. I'm glad I said something to him before I paid because I would have felt too guilty after I left.

Four handmade antique cane chairs in perfect shape for $50. They are now around my dining room table.

Two beautiful framed paintings by a local artist who had passed away for $25 that are now hanging in my home.

A real wooden bookcase (not veneer) it is heavy even when it is empty, but it was just what I was looking for, and not a scratch on it.

You got a kitty, how sweet.
