How would you deal with an influx of pythons in your regional waterways?

Scientists are trying to figure out if those pythons dumped in the Everglades by thoughtless idiots can survive a colder climate. They are having a big problem down there and don't want the snakes to come further north, midwest etc..

Put a bounty on em. Hunters would take care of the influx in no time.

I wouldn't mind having a nice snake skin purse....:) Seriously, I consider pythons to be an invasive species, and wouldn't tolerate one on my property; I'd most likely call a professional trapper. I'm already cautious when I'm outdoors; snakes, gators, and other critters should be avoided when possible, but I'm not going to stay indoors or away from parks and waterways.

Yahoo has had a lot of glitches lately,
I think this is in the wrong category.
I think this should have been in Zoology.
This is my answer.
I think they should allow Python season and hunt them.
Put a bounty on them. If not already they will threaten local
wildlife some of it endangered.

I never gave the question much thought actually. In the Rio Grande Valley we have untold numbers of snakes, of the poisonous variety, and various alligators that swim across the Rio Grande... Temperature wise, pythons would thrive in my area. Thank you for this food for thought.

When it came on the news that someone's pet burmese python was lost in the sewer system in our city, my mom put bricks on top of all the toilet seats and the washing machine. She put the stoppers in the sinks and bathtub too. She was afraid it would come up through the pipes.
If they end up as far north as Oklahoma, I will give up floating the river. :(

I would not live where they are to begin with but your Q is not that. I would put a very high fence buried very deep of a very tiny mesh around my property. but before I did that I would move.
