Blatz Beer was once quite popular, so what became of it ?

Don't believe I've seen it around for awhile .

BTW...I asked this in the ' Beer, Wine & Spirits ' category a couple of hours ago and have yet to receive an answer .

Sheesh !... I wonder what they do over there, anyway !

If you want some let me know, I could get you some Schlitz or Old Style also. I had pool league tonight and drank a couple off PBR's for my uncle who happens to be in a coma at the local VA hospital.

It appears to be available in (at least) the Milwaukee area ...

"Today

The "Blatz" beer label currently is produced by the Miller Brewing Company of Milwaukee, under contract for Pabst Brewing Company, managed by CEO, Charles Thomas Blatz who coincidentally shares the last name of the previous founder.

The Blatz Brewery Building was purchased and converted to condos in 2005-2006. The Blatz building's downtown location has made it a premier place to live in Milwaukee. In 2008, Blatz Beer made its return to the brewery building. Rather than being brewed there, however, it is merely available for purchase from the Blatz Market & Liquor."

I used to drink it as a young man. I lived in the Chicago suburbs. I don't see it around here any more.

It was a good value for the price.

It used to be a popular beer among college students because it was cheap. I think the Miller Brewing Company bought the rights to both Pabst's Blue Ribbon (another cheapo) and Blatz as well. Neither one was ever very popular in TX, because we had our own breweries (Shiner, for example). People here drink a lot of Miller and Budweiser. Younger people also enjoy the pricier beers like Heineken.

I remember Blatz beer. I think it was on the low end of the price scale, right? My step dad and my mom (before she stopped drinking beer altogether) drank Drewry's beer or Stroh's, and I think they were both Detroit beers, or at least Stroh's was. My mom had a figurine on her knickknack shelf of a little guy playing a pipe or a flute and it was from the Stroh brewing company, but I can't find a picture of it in images. It was probably some promotion giveaway from the brewer. When they moved to Florida, dad switched to some awful swill call RW&B. But he switched to non-alcoholic beer as he got into his 70s and beyond.

Yes. It's owned by Pabst but produced by Miller Brewing Company. So, whoever distributes Miller beer also would distribute Blatz.
