Question:
How do I get my avatar name from an old account, deleted?

I have no idea how to do that. So I am hoping someone can direct me to the right place to
do that. I no longer use that account, and Yahoo should know that, and yet my avatar is
still on the board of best answerers. And my old account, is no longer in the running. I am
asking in the SC column since I am one, and maybe they can direct me.

Here are a few options you can try..

You can't just close your answers account it is a part of your yahoo account.

If you no longer want to use your Answers account, you can only "mothball" it:

* remove your Contacts

* remove your avatar

* change the name to ? or a few dots

* turn off all notifications and emails

* set all settings to private/don't share

* then just stop using it

None of this will stop your questions and answers being visible, either through a Yahoo or Google search.

You will keep getting points if old answers get voted as BA.

You will keep getting notices of this (or of violations, if old content is reported) but you can set up your mail to direct these to the trash folder.

If you want to close your Yahoo account

Before closing your account, please understand:

•A closed account cannot be reactivated – While you can always sign up for a new account, closing an account will remove and delete it from the Yahoo! network.

•You cannot just delete a single Yahoo! product. You will lose access, data, and settings for all Yahoo! ID associated with the closed account – This includes all messages in Yahoo! Mail and any personalization made in Yahoo! Mobile, and any other area of Yahoo! which can only be accessed with your Yahoo! ID and password.

If after this if you still want to close your Yahoo account Visit the Account Termination page.

I'm there, too, and didn't know how to get rid of it. From what I understand, no one can email that account, as I've had several friends tell me they've tried. I have deleted the Yahoo account but I have no idea whether that's taken effect or not. At any rate, I haven't tried to get back into the account for over a month. I guess it'll go away eventually as I slip further down the list. I never want to be there again as it makes you a target.

Shari, a few years ago when my original YA email account was blown apart by hackers and I no longer had a way of getting to my original YA account, I swamped the "Help Desk" of YA with emails and their official forms. I asked them to close that account and make it so that no one could see my photo on the now old style profile page and no one to could make themselves a fan of that account. I also rang the YA office in my country and the USA. They made that account private and no one including me has access to the profile page, nor can they become a fan to that YA account. The activity page is still visible but no one has any access to it. But you can still come across an old question or answer of that account if a search was made through the YA question search.

So my advise to you is just swamp the YA help desk with emails and ring them.

You can not do that i am afraid. You need to cancel all or nothing. Extra importantly if you do cancel the whole lot your resolved questions and solutions will nonetheless stay on Yahoo servers for ever unless removed for abuse.

Use this link to send your request. Real yahoo agents read these and be sure you say it is your Answers name and avatar, for that's all this link will handle. They are very good at responding and fixing problems.
