Fruit and vegie stands outside of the cities are few. There are covered malls for

vendors now, that pay for a space and sell their wares. There are also small market

areas in the core of the little towns, in a "Farmers Market'. They have a variety of

local foods and flowers. They also sell Kettle Korn, and sometimes home made

candy, and Mexican foods. Some little towns have 'festivals' to celebrate local grown

berries. And they'll wrap a celebration around that. Jams and jellies, milk shakes

and ice cream cones, all made with the local berries. Sometimes vending trucks will

have a space for selling their home made sausage, or snow cones and popcorn,

and cotton candy and candied apples. And the occasional indian tacos will be tucked

in a corner of a vending area. The open air out of town, tends to be an inviting hunger

tool that makes all of the available food for sale, tantalizing. Now with the lowered

price of gas, maybe they will draw the tourists this year.

There are many around here. Roadside stands for produce, that is, and many of them are not staffed - they just have a box for you to put money in after you've made your selection. There is a farmer's market on Saturdays in each of the two small towns we live close to. There are many Mennonite farmers who sell produce from their front yards. Just yesterday hubby bought a seedless watermelon from our Mennonite neighbor for $1.00, and it was very good, I was surprised since he only paid a dollar for it. The fireworks stands are gone now, they pop out the last couple of weeks in June and then they disappear. This is kind of funny, but a couple of years ago we were having a yard sale and we had to leave for some reason or another. Hubby put a jar out on the table so people could still buy things and make their own change. It worked pretty well, as far as I know nothing was taken without being paid for. If anything WAS stolen, then they needed it worse than we needed the money, LOL.

We had one awhile back on the way to our walmart that sold rugs, tee shirts in a old gas station. Years ago we had these little Asian gals on street corners selling flowers, I think they may have been moonies as I don't see them at all any more. We do have some a little later selling berries and melons. I remember as a kid the orchids would have stands along the side of the road.Good luck finding an orchid now. We would have to drive for miles and miles.

We still have them in my state. I just bought some Rainer cherries from along side the road. Excellent. We also had people selling hanging baskets of flowers not too long ago and we do have the farmers market twice a week. In the fall apples will be sold along side the roads here.

The Eagles put up a booth for fireworks each years.

You'll see one or maybe two along the side of the road, but mostly they drive their carts around and ring a bell to get your attention. They also have large displays on certain days of the week where you can buy almost anything you can think of. I'd love to go out today and find one stand selling fresh strawberries. I'll have to be satisfied with the fella who sells home made tamales out of the trunk of his car. He gets a lot of business. We're close to Palm Springs California.

There are 3 huge flea markets in my area, in addition there are lots of sales of art, cheap jewelry, etc. in the center of the malls (in the AC), there are weekend art shows, entertainment (where there are food stands, food festivals), tourist shops, we have a store that sells flags here, there are both farmers markets (indoors) and farmers sales off the country roads here (2 within 5 miles from here), churches have craft shows (sell crafts and plants)...those are all here and prolific, so can I assume that the recent Oklahoma tornadoes have shut some of those down in your state?

They do here in the South where I live. A lot of people go to the Flea Market to sell, but I see yard sales everywhere on the weekends and Fridays. There is also a lot of home-grown food for sale at small stands. I have gotten a lot of old frying pans at yard sales, and the good ones that are already seasoned and not made in a foreign country...like Lodge, made in the U.S. The other ones are supposedly preseasoned, but they are not, and it takes FOREVER to season them. I make cornbread in mine.

Yes.There are numerous fruit and vegetable stands all over Atlanta. Also if you have the nerve to visit our downtown area, you can see vending carts set up outside the train station.

Unfortuately, these vending carts, during the 96 Olympics, gave our city the ambience of a third world country.

Roadside business is decreasing because they don't take credit cards. People are getting more and more in debt, so there are less people who actually buy with cash. Debt is the biggest addiction on the planet. For the past 22 years I have rented mini storage spaces. In the past three years I have noticed a lot of people have no money to pay the rent. They want me to take their credit card payment which I refuse to do. I have several now who are paying by PayPal. My opinion is that we have a debt addiction sweeping the country. Roadside stands are losing popularity because people have little or no cash.

many people have given up. I had some yard sales last year and no one wanted to spend any money. So if I have anything I just give it to Goodwill or put it outside with a FREE sign. Once in a while if I have something that might bring in some money I will put it outside and put the amount on it and someone will come ot the door to pay me and take it away.

If a person is going to sell tee shirts they have to purchase them. If they do and no one buys any or they sell one it isn't worth there time. Most people either don't have disposable income or are not spending their disposable income frivolously.

There's an ice cream truck or small cart in a town near me. In the fall sometimes ppl sell corn and squash. Probably more down where there's more population.
