Question:
Seniors, have you been upgraded to the new Yahoo yet?

It promises that it will be quicker, better and all things positive. It is horrendous. Slow as a snail and I am becoming very exasperated with it. Every move is painfully slow, even trying to log out. I have spoken to three other people who are having identical experiences but some seem not to have been changed yet.

I cannot see my staying with Yahoo if this does not prove to just be teething problems.

No, I haven't got the New Yahoo, and will do everything I can to remain with the current version--which is bad enough.

1) EVERY SINGLE TIME that Yahoo makes "improvements" they are a disaster. WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

2) Yahoo has STILL NOT FIXED very large problems that it has had for months--such as the failure of its "photo update" process to customize avatars.

3) Whenever most large internet companies (YouTube, Google, etc.) make changes, they almost always inflict them on the public without sufficient de-bugging first. So there are almost always glitches that persist for days, weeks, or months before they are fixed.

4) Although "You Go Girl" recommends updating to Internet Explorer 10--which, natch, also boasts that is is "new, better, faster"--I do NOT recommend it. When I recently installed Internet Explorer 10 it was slower than Internet Explorer 9, which I had been using. And there were many other problems too.

So I Googled it, and found large numbers of people all over the world were all having the same problems I had. After wasting about half a day and giving myself a couple of ulcers, I finally found out how to un-install the damn thing. But then, my Internet Explorer automatically reverted to Internet Explorer 8. Not 9. However, even Internet Explorer 8 works a lot better than Internet Explorer 10.

This is so typical of what all these big internet giants do. They simply have too much power, and they don't give a damn about consumers, who have technically signed away all rights to complain about what is done to them. Though these contracts are not really valid because in practical terms the consumers have no choice in the matter. I hope in the near future there will be more and more class-action lawsuits against these corporate gangsters.

Yes I have been switched today. I had an email yesterday telling me that if I clicked the button I could be switched immediately but didn't because I'd heard someone else say that it was painfully slow. Well today I turned on the computer and found I had been switched anyway so I guess there is no getting out of this.

It has sent me crazy today. Every little move is slow. Click to view my emails, wait and wait, then, eventually they pop up so I click on the one I want and I wait and wait. Then I decide to delete that one and again I wait and wait, then I'm so fed up I want to close down and I wait and wait and, in Yahoo's timing, I am logged out.

Mad idiot that I am I've come back for another session. I'm not too sure that I will want to go through it again tomorrow though.

I received the e-mail this morning from Y saying Classic-mail will be retired in June and I would be "up-graded" to the new version of Mail. If Y only read their Yahoo Mail category on Answers, they would find so many, many people saying they had switched and asking how to get back the Classic version.I did not click on the bar to switch and will wait until they force me to do it in June. Obviously people don't like the new version.

But then so many have complained about the new Yahoo Home Page and would like to get the original version back. I don't like it either - all that scrolling to find a story I want to read. Yahoo, which used to be so great, has become a dictatorship. "Our way - or else!"

I did up-grade to I.E 10, and like it very much, but that has nothing to do with Yahoo.

I have not been changed yet but I've had the email telling me that it will happen soon. I have seen what it is like on someone else's computer and I don't want it on mine but I can see that we will have no choice.

To ? I would just say, wait and see. You will have to accept it when it arrives on your computer.

As for what You Go Girl says, I don't understand anything that you tell me to do. It is double Dutch, gobbledegook. I shall have to print off your reply I think and show it one of my sons, once I've been changed over and see what they think of what you say.

Like a couple of others have said, I don't think that I will wish to continue using Y.A. if it stays as slow as the computer I was watching a few days ago. Tomorrow might be my turn and I'll be able to experience it for myself without moving from this seat !! Oh dear.

Yahoo is not the problem, it may be your browser and you may need to update/upgrade to a newer version

It's seems like every year like Firefox or Internet Explorer have a new number and we need to update it to get the new faster browsers. For example IE is now a 10, so if you have IE update/upgrade it to the number 10 version etc.

You also can try to do a dick cleanup, clear your history and clean out your caches. After doing this shut it down and boot it back up and it should be running smoother..

Also check to see if you plug-ins are up to date too.

I've learned the New Yahoo mail and it is great!

If you have pop up problems and ads use the adblocker

Download the greasmonkey.com and go and installed the adblocker.

After I did this I DO NOT see amy pop ups or ads whatsoever, so half of the time I do not know shat people are talking about LOL

How about all the pop-up adds? Cannot even use a pop-up stopper to close them down. Locked out of almost everything for protection. Cannot even get rid of yahoo. Locked out of that too.
I M RIGHT

Yes - received notice in my Ymail this morning - was going to switch . . . . but given the history of glitches, bad ideas & disasters, think I'll just wait until June. Besides, new & improved probably just means more ads.
