Question:
How do I stop malicious e-mails?

I am getting e-mail from my son's former ID everyday. I know he didn't send them because he lives with me and he changed his ID over a year ago. I haven't been opening the e-mails because I think they contain viruses. I've been sending them to my spam file. I just sent another to Spam and decided to count them to see just how many I've gotten so far. They were gone. The only one there was the one I just sent. When you spam something, isn't that supposed to stop future emails from getting to you?

Changing them to Spam only sends them directly to the Spam folder. Which Yahoo empties out every week (or month--I forget exactly which).

But, you can block the email from ever coming to you! All you have to do is go into your Mail and then go into "Options". The button should be over on the right of your screen above the border for the open window.

In Options, first go to "More Options", which will take you to the "General" page. On the left hand side of the screen you will see a list of different options you may choose. Go to "Spam". This is where you may change how often the spam folder is emptied (not up to Yahoo at all, but you!). And below that you will see an area for "Blocked Email Addresses". All you need to do is to put your cursor in the "Add" window and type in your son's old email address. Then hit the "Add" button beside it. You can do this with any email address you judge as malicious and do not want to receive anything from. Then go to the top bar of that window where it says "Save Changes" and hit that. You are done and that mail address will be blocked forever!

The same thing happened to my daughter-in-law when she changed her email address a few months back.

All of a sudden, everyone on her mailing list was being bombarded with spam from her old address.

She notified everyone and we have marked as spam.

That seems to have cured the problem.

But, how does this happen? No one is safe.

Keep marking them as SPAM, and never, ever open anything that you you find questionable. Spammers will continue and it's up to you to be careful ... even your security won't protect you from everything.

I tried blocking an Outlook account that keeps coming in and Yahoo told me it was an invalid address and would not let me block it. I dont get it.
