Does anyone remember the old Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies?

I'm not quite old enough to have seen them when they originally came out, except one ("The Barkeleys of Broadway") when I was a kid. I've been watching them, however, on TCM. I just think their dancing was the epitome of class, it was so beautiful to watch them, and they were so good at what they did. What were some of your favorites? I also liked "Swing Time," especially the first dance scene they did when Fred surprised Ginger by showing her that he did really know how to dance. Anyone remember this!? Anything would be appreciated!

"Night and Day," "The Continental" and "Dancing Cheek to Cheek" are immortal and can never be duplicated by any other dancers.

Not only did I enjoy the movies I loved the dresses Ginger wore. I believe that some of them were so heavy or covered with feathers that she had difficult moving in them, which just goes to show how good she was. Fred was a perfect dancer who could dance just about any type of dance style. Glad you are enjoying these movies.

I remember how great they danced together, but I mostly remember Ginger's movies where she would be swimming in a scene with a lot of other swimmers all synchronized to music and at the end she came up from under the water in the middle. She was the star.

I had a full aqua colored bathing suit, just like Gingers.

I was "cool at the pool"

All the girls wanted one.

I'd have to do a bit of research to tell you the titles of the movies I enjoyed the most by the dancing duo. I'm bad with names & I haven't seen one of their movies for many years. When I was a child & growing up as a "latchkey kid", (which was rare in the late 50's & early 60's), I would watch their movies & the Shirley Temple movies & dance around the room for hours on end...dreaming of becoming a dancer on the silver screen. I lived in a fantasy world & Fred & Ginger brought me a lot of joy while I was forced to remain indoors for my safety.

I liked them then, I like them now and have a few of them on DVD. You might be interested to know that Ginger was not Fred's original dance partner, nor was she his favorite. In fact, He didn't even particularly care for her. His favorite dance partner was his sister. It was the studio who put Fred and Ginger together and he was never happy about it. I thought she was a dish.

I've seen them all many times. Great entertainment type movies. Love the dancing, the clothes and the era. As we've all said a thousand times, "they don't make movies like that anymore." I am very poor at remembering the names. I recognize the names when I see them.

I wasn't quite old enough to watch them where they first came out either but they are priceless. I too have watched them on TV through the years along with several other greats, Cary Grant and Gene Kelly.

Sure do remember that scene in "Swing Time", I've seen all of their movies over and over again. My favorite movie is "Top Hat", my favorite dance of theirs is "They Can't Take That Away From Me" from the "Barkley's Of Broadway".

Well... I love old movies. My favorite is probably "Gone With the Wind", which I've watched about 50 times. Others I like: "The Misfits" with Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable & Montgomery Clift; "Hatari" and "The Quiet Man", the only two John Wayne movies I actually like; "Dial M for Murder", "Singing in the Rain"....there are lots of them!! And Don Knotts--remember his "Mr. Limpet" movie, where he was the animated fish? So funny! Now you'll have me going to Netflix to add all these to my queue!

I like the movie where they sing "Isn't It A Lovely Day To Go Out In The Rain." I am not sure what the name of the movie is. I just love her gowns!

I remember seeing them on "The Late Show." Always loved them, but then I love old fashioned musicals anyway.
